Mal wieder ein spannendes Filmprojekt! Die Leute von Wickiemedia möchten via Crowdfunding eine Dokumentation über die Geschichte des Samplings und – vor allem – der Sampler drehen. Dazu haben sie bei indiegogo schon mal ein nettes kleines Video veröffentlicht, das Lust auf mehr macht. Wer will, kann das Projekt bei indiegogo auch unterstützen. Hier ein kleiner Auszug aus dem Pressetext, aus dem hervorgeht, was der Anlass und Zweck des Films sein soll:
This fully featured documentary is all about the history of samplers and answers many questions about sampling. Actual video footage will be accompanied with very visual animations. -I am using a new design-style and typography which I think will look awesome!

The documentary will be a full-length WickieMedia-style documentary. This means it will contain a lot of technical details, background information and have a very educational overall feel while at the same time being very entertaining to watch.
So ambitioniert und toll das hier auf dem „Papier“ klingt – ob der Film tatsächlich so entstehen und veröffentlicht werden kann wie gewünscht, hängt nicht nur von der geglückten Finanzierung ab. Bei dem großartigen Sampling-Film „Sample: Not for Sale“ von Mike Redman, über den ich hier und hier schon mal berichtet habe, konnte eine öffentliche und kommerzielle Veröffentlichung nicht erreicht werden, weil es schlicht unmöglich war, die verwendeten Samples einwandfrei zu klären. Eine Sampling-Doku, die aus Sample-Clearence-Trouble nicht veröffentlicht werden kann… Ironisch? Geradezu zynisch!
